Everight’s Patented, Contactless NyceWave™ Shaped-Field Position Sensing Technology

A NyceWave position sensor uses a specially wound or printed conductor pattern to produce and control the shape of a surface electromagnetic wave that is generated in response to the excitation from the sensor’s driver circuit.  When a conductive target (attached to or part of the moving object) is present and moves within the electromagnetic wave field, changes in the field distribution cause a variation in the velocity of the generated surface electromagnetic wave.  It is this variation that is measured with high accuracy to indicate the position of the target and therefore the object whose position is being indicated.  The signal conditioning electronics convert the signal from the sensing element into the desired type of output signal.
